Three pedestrians were critically injured when a taxi jumped a curb in New York’s Flatiron district on Monday afternoon, police say.
The yellow cab collided with an SUV traveling southbound on Broadway between West 28th and West 29th just after 1pm, according to authorities.
The taxi mounted the curb, colliding with at least four people.
The NYPD said the taxi eventually came to a halt after crashing into a building. The driver remained at the scene.
Three of the four injured were said to be fighting for their lives after the incident.
The New York Post reported that FDNY and ambulance staff treated the injured at the scene before transporting them to Bellevue Hospital.
A video showing the aftermath of the crash indicated the taxi had struck several planters before it ran into the building.
Emergency Management advised people to avoid the area, and to expect traffic delays and road closures throughout the rest of Monday.
